“…A new pilot project in Anchorage is taking a fresh approach to homelessness by offering both housing and treatment in one place. The Microunit Recovery Program was recently presented to the Assembly’s Housing and Homelessness Committee as a two-year trial that could offer new hope—and shelter—for people experiencing homelessness and substance use disorders. ... The idea draws inspiration from the “In Our Backyard” tiny homes project at Central Lutheran Church, which has been in place for more than a year. Leaders behind the new pilot say that project helped show what works—and what doesn’t.“
