Have you driven by In Our Backyard lately? The outdoor space has transformed in recent weeks! The beds are planted, the ornamental archways are up, and we are loving the color that the new garden brings to In Our Backyard. Inside the fence, each unit has been outfitted with its own raised planter bed and flower basket. Our guests report that these green additions help the space feel more welcoming and peaceful.

1. The “before” shot. Staging garden materials. 
2. The beds are ready for plants. Volunteers helped us build up soil and organic materials using the “lasagna” gardening method. 
3. The plants go in the ground! A variety of berry shrubs, medicinal perennials, and other flowering plants grace the landscape. 
4. Ornamental fencing defines the edges of the new garden. 
5. Beautiful archways mark the entrance to the public garden. All are welcome! 
6. Each unit gets a raised planter and a couple flowering baskets.
